Kelly Campbell: Flight Plan
The route: Go out the bedroom, take a left, go down the stairs, take another left, then another left, and then enter a kitchen laden with a wooden floor. The routine: Ball handling drills in the kitchen in the morning before school and then free throws outside after school from grades two through six.
Where do hard work and obsession in sports lead to, other than a place with sore muscles, where sweat becomes a best friend, and opportunity is reduced to the monotony of practicing the craft repeatedly? For Kelly Campbell, they led to a seat on a bus for 17 miles and to a seat on a plane for 825 miles.
